Rant of the day

It has been my experience in the last few years that my thoughtful and unexpected gifts to friends and family have gone unacknowledged. A huge fan of the RAK's of the 90's started my penchant for surprising folk with small gifts of money, gift cards, chocolate etc. That was until I realized of late, I had not a clue if the gifts were received, unless I enquired usually getting an oh yeh...thanks for the money.Granted I was sending via Canada Post for the most part...hmmmm.I was perplexed and curious so decided to seek out an experts advice in the possibility of a new trend in etiquette having taken hold of our culture with out consulting moi.Dear Reader, join me in welcoming my guest blogger...Miss Manners.

Gentle Reader: Because you were not certain that your friend had even received the present and had no idea about her reaction to it, Miss Manners gathers that this is not a question of supplementing verbal thanks with written thanks; there were no thanks at all until you happened to call.

Therefore, Miss Manners would reply:

"Really? Tell me more about your culture and its rules. Do people keep giving presents and doing favors without any feedback? What stops them from getting discouraged when their efforts are met with silence? Or is it not the custom to be either generous or grateful? Thank you MM for you're succinct reply.

OK, I get it; Miss Manners and thank you etiquette...I am officially addled.

Reflections on the Last 6 weeks

The joy I had in being a part of my girls dream was accompanied by another undeniably wonderful reminder of the self-affirming power and generosity women. My angel of a SIL gives so freely of time and energy to all of us....the women in her circle. This video by Kelly Corrigan reminds me of the many ways we women empower each other simply by being friends.

Home ....sort of....

Home Again....all seems well.... The Main man has been hosting the delightful next door neighbours as they pack up their home to move back to family in the East. Tonight they treated us to one of my favorite Okanagan Restaurants in Peachland, the Gausthaus. Schnitzel reigns supreme and tonite so did asparagus. It was very very tasty and somewhat sad to say alfverterzan..elveertazan...whatever... to these beautiful people. It was also the Organic Dudes Birthday so he had a break from his usual raw fare and went crazy eating salmon, scallops, shrimp and salad.

Weekend space

Off to Rita's for the weekend to give my precious 4 time to bond in their new home. Dad got back from Fort Mac this am and had not seen his new house yet and is still exploring as we ready everyone for the boy's grade nine grad tonite. Tomorrow and Sunday will be filled with many new memories for my sweet peeps.

Many, many thanks

We are totally unpacked. The container was emptied yesterday thanks to friends and sons of friends and my main dude Morgan. We have been incredibly blessed with the people that volunteered....yes volunteered to assist in anyway we felt needed. Hard to move a household of 4 when you are working and the man of the house is up north.Rita my beloved and I'm beginning to think masochistic SIL and the Savages led by Ormand the Electrical plumbing genius made this move possible. There is not one thing I can think of that could express the love and gratitude I have for all of them. The fact that we laughed the whole time was a bonus.I am theirs when they move and hope I work with the same generosity and energy they gave us.Take 10 guys....you are now off the clock.

Moved...notify EMS please

They are moved for the most part, one very large container to go.My work here is nearly done but because I emptied the boxes for the kitchen and LR/DR their work will continue for many more days as the search and find begins {my passive aggressive need to be remembered} .The house held many good surprises for me.....the perennials in the rock garden have been planted with great care and planning {L,a perennial comes up every year}.I like the open concept and see great potential in the future and the fireplace is welcoming and quite lovely. They will have many happy memories here and fun making it theirs.
