Spring Fever

It hit me last night; that overpowering urge to purge, relocate, recycle and un/redecorate. I saw the anguish and yes fear wash over the face of the hoarding, indiscriminate collecting, love living in clutter fella I live with.He knows tough times lay ahead because with the need to purge comes that bitchy, self-righteous I am soooo better than you persona.

Another color, texture miracle

There is nothing I love more in art than to see color hidden beneath texture. This pear, one of Laurie's pieces, has given me more inspiration this week in making polymer plates to use as pendants with or without beads added.Today I am playing with photo transfer of music pages from a very old Country Western music book. The lyrics are the best part.

How to catalogue?

I am struggling with the monumental task of photographing and cataloguing all the pieces I have in my jewelry collection. This includes crediting artist patterns, bead and gem suppliers and calculating the cost of supplies plus labour and then pricing each piece.Note to self....do this at the beginning of creating each piece. That is have an inventory list , addresses of suppliers and picture of finished piece.Much like an appraisal. Any thoughts on how to simplify this task and save my marriage?

Color, gotta have it.

This amazing artist has the last word on color and it's importance in making the work sing.Beverly Gilbert's new book, "Eye For Color" is always never far from me in the Studio. Her wheels make color selection so much easier and surprising with some of the combinations.

Pick-me-up

This is my fav pick-me-up in a glance visual. It sits right up front on my Inspiration board and was sent by Laurie at a very fun and silly time in my art life. We were intent on challenging the postal service and sent a plethora of odd mail. My mail lady loved it and admitted she read it all; that is: all not enveloped. Hmm, maybe the beach ball and paint can went a bit too far....fun though!

Awwwwwch

The weekly test of all that is holy has rolled in once again. I have long been held up in our tribe as the Grammy...Oscar...Peoples Choice award
of patience and this weekly recertification of this status has rolled up again. I do not exaggerate people. This one card holding player is enough on his own to help me maintain my crown as he asks every nano second...What's wild then answers himself for the billionth time..."The Players"...aha ....aha....duh!

Message in a bracelet

 Not a
perfectionist, surprised? I like the look of the uneven; rough edges, oxidized finish, disappearing images all especially on polymer. This uneven, splotchy bracelet has all of the above and more...there are message plates speaking words of ...Lead...power...open...explore...passion...play.....VOILA, Message in a bracelet. Peace out...

Just can't let it go

I just can't leave the clay drawer closed. I dream of clay bracelets, clay beads and today clay letters. I am seriously contemplating buying up all of myrles abandoned clay and trying a table top for a small table Great Grandpa made for Nana. My greatest obsession is still the free form beads and plates with holes wherever so I can use them for pendants, outdoor hangings and a Sweet Dreams sign for the guest room These 2 bracelets I loved for the toughness of them....biker chick style. Any thoughts?

This is what I Love about Art

This is a polymer clay bracelet finished with carved ivory beads.I used a bit of bronze paste to dirty it up a bit. I so love
the beaten up grungy look of jewelry that's been around the block....not so much in men though.

Has the Groundhog been sighted?

Snowy and foggy today but we are all excited that spring may be here and are out with our shovels to welcome the little groundhog. Can you see him?
